" Nightmare on Elm Street " may have been the first big-budget horror flick shot in the Elgin area. But with its combination of quaint 19th-century homes, country fields and nearness to Chicago's bank of filmmaking technicians, the northern Fox Valley has hosted a number of Hollywood crews over the past 30 years.
