The Pantages was the first Art Deco movie palace in the United States. It opened on June 4, 1930 and was one of the first movie houses to be built after the advent of 'talkies' (movies with sound). The architect was B. Marcus Priteca. It is now a venue for live theater productions and we went there to see Cats.
